Yudnapinna Station is a significant pastoral property conveniently located one hour north-west of Port Augusta. Spanning more than 200,000 hectares of rangeland country, the station is entering an exciting new phase as its livestock operation integrates with the final stages of becoming one of Australia’s largest Human-Induced Regeneration (HIR) Carbon Projects.
Due to the planned retirement of our current management team, we are now seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Station Manager to provide ongoing leadership and support the property through this planned transition.
About the Role
The Station Manager will oversee all station operations, staff, livestock programs and capital projects, while implementing land management strategies aligned with the carbon project. The role requires strong pastoral experience, practical leadership, solid project management capability and confidence in data, reporting and digital tools.
Key Responsibilities
Pastoral Operations
- Oversee livestock programs, including merino sheep and goat harvesting enterprises.
- Maintain and monitor water points, troughs, pipelines and tanks to ensure reliable stock water across the property.
- Ensure regular property maintenance, including fences, yards, outstations, vehicles, equipment and general station infrastructure.
Carbon & Land Management
- Deliver on-ground requirements of the HIR Carbon Project.
- Contribute to reshaping whole station operations to maximise new income streams, including goat harvesting, improved water infrastructure, rotational grazing and upgraded yards and fencing.
- Apply strategic grazing management techniques to enhance vegetation recovery and improve landscape function.
- Maintain accurate record-keeping and reporting.
Leadership & Reporting
- Lead and support a small on-station team and coordinate contractors.
- Ensure compliance with McBride’s WHS standards, animal welfare requirements and environmental practices.
- Use AgriWebb and other digital systems for operational reporting, compliance and data accuracy.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience managing large pastoral operations.
- Strong practical knowledge of grazing systems and land management.
- Ability to manage budgets and contribute to financial planning.
- Excellent organisational, communication and reporting skills.
- Proven capability in leading people and managing projects.
- AgriWebb or similar digital record-keeping experience (advantageous).
- A genuine interest in regenerative land management, carbon projects or environmental outcomes.
