Ashmore
Located to close to the coastal town of Kingston SE on the Princes Highway, Ashmore Station was the company's first South Eastern purchase in 1936. With a 573mm rainfall, the property produces fine wool, prime lamb as well as having an Angus dominated beef herd.
Property Location
Reedy Creek, 10km East of Kingston SE, South AustraliaAshmore was purchased as AJ & PA McBride Ltd’s first South Eastern property in 1936 following the advances in super phosphate, cobalt deficiency and property drainage made the area commercially viable. The property is located in the former railway locality of Reedy Creek, straddling the Princes Highway near Kingston SE.
Ashmore consists of mainly flat country, well served by underground water capable of providing irrigated pastures. The initial Ashmore block with its iconic natural stone woolshed was renowned for its production of high quality wool at the time of purchase, together with the fertile Blackford flats located off the highway.
The property has increased in size with the purchase of the adjacent properties over the last forty years, most recently in 2012 with the purchase of Passchendaele on the Reedy Creek - Lucindale Rd.
Ashmore is an Autumn shearer with an annual production of more than 800 merino wool bales.
